QR codes in the GS1 Digital Link standard
A product with a GTIN gets a GS1 address that opens the passport and works in GS1 scanning apps. Printed codes keep working even when you change product data.
Create industrial battery passports that comply with Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, with a GS1 QR code for every single battery. We are building the platform for every industry covered by ESPR and add further sectors as their delegated acts are adopted.
ESPR introduces digital passports one product group at a time. Teams that prepare their data early meet the new rules calmly, without a costly rollout.
Check when the obligation applies to your productsRegulation (EU) 2024/1781 makes the Digital Product Passport part of ecodesign requirements.
The European Commission runs a registry that stores passport and product identifiers.
Industrial batteries above 2 kWh, electric vehicle batteries and light means of transport batteries.
The Commission's 2025-2030 working plan covers textiles, furniture, mattresses, tyres, steel and aluminium, among others.

Name, brand, model, GTIN and sector. The GTIN is checked against GS1 rules, and variants are organised as model, batch or single item.
The form follows the sector template. Gaps show up immediately, and publishing checks that every required field is filled in.
A published passport gets a GS1 Digital Link QR code. Download it as SVG to print on a label or on the product.

SVHC substances with CAS numbers and a certificate register (e.g. FSC, OEKO-TEX) with expiry dates.
EU Declaration of Conformity, instructions and reports attached to the passport. Export passports to JSON and PDF.
The battery passport for electric vehicle (EV), light means of transport (LMT) and industrial batteries above 2 kWh, with the data from Annex XIII of the regulation.
Every single battery has its own passport. Article 77 of the regulation requires it, so PassTrace always issues battery passports at item level. Data shared by the whole series sits on the model card, and each battery has its own serial number, GS1 Digital Link QR code and state history.
Only the item's passport is published and registered in the EU registry. Before publishing, the panel checks that every field the regulation requires is filled in.
Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 · mandatory from 18 February 2027
Nine sections that follow Annex XIII. Required fields are checked before publishing.
Only for signed-in parties such as repairers, recyclers and market surveillance authorities. Never on the public page.
Battery category (EV, LMT or industrial), place and date of manufacture, and weight.
Capacity and energy, voltages, power, lifetime in cycles and years, energy efficiency, internal resistance, storage temperatures and warranty.
Cell chemistry, critical raw materials and the recycled share of cobalt, lithium, nickel and lead.
Detailed composition
Hazardous substances and their impact, the extinguishing agent and ISO 7010 safety signs picked from a preview.
Safety measures
Class, value in kg CO₂e/kWh and the split across life cycle stages, from raw material extraction to recycling.
Repair instructions and a short “Repair” direction on the passport page.
Part numbers and spare part sources
Waste prevention, collection and recycling, handling of waste batteries, markings (crossed-out bin, Cd, Pb, CE, IEC 62902 chemistry symbols) and IP rating.
Dismantling information
Carbon footprint study and due diligence report. Test results go into the technical documentation for market surveillance authorities.
Each item's history: status (original, reused, repurposed, remanufactured, waste), state of health under Annex VII and usage data. A repairer, recycler or battery management system adds it through the API.

A Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a structured set of product data accessed through an identifier, such as a QR code. It can include materials, origin, repair, recycling and documents. PassTrace helps collect this data and share it on a product passport page.
The obligation comes from delegated acts adopted for specific product groups. The first one covers batteries (from 18 February 2027). The Commission's 2025-2030 working plan covers textiles, furniture, mattresses, tyres, steel and aluminium, among others, and each act usually gives at least 18 months to prepare.
The public passport page, with no login and no app to install: photos, materials, SVHC substances, environmental impact, repair information, certificates and the supply chain. Non-public data is only visible to people with the right role in your organisation.
Yes. A product with a GTIN gets a GS1 Digital Link code with a batch or serial number that works in GS1 scanning apps. Products without a GTIN get a permanent passport address. Print-ready codes download as SVG.
Every passport has a field for its EU registry identifier and shows the registration status. We are currently rolling out direct integration with the Commission's registry, which has been live since July 2026.
Yes. We provide a REST API with API keys, passport export to JSON and PDF, and product data in the GS1 Web Vocabulary (JSON-LD).
Each organisation has its own database schema. Access to non-public data depends on the user's role, and a suspended organisation loses access to the panel and the API.
We'll walk you through the panel with an example from your industry and answer your ESPR questions.
